Video Of Ahmedabad Man’s Brutal Assault Of Woman Business Partner Viral

In a video statement, the woman has said the incident took place on Monday.

Ahmedabad:

A shocking video of a man brutally assaulting a woman near a salon in a posh Ahmedabad neighbourhood has prompted the police to register a case of sexual harassment and voluntarily causing hurt.

Police have reached out to the woman, who is from the Northeast, and registered the case against the man on the basis of her statement.

The woman has told police that she and Mohsin, who is seen hitting her, were business partners, and that they ran a salon for women in Ahmedabad’s upscale Sindhubhavan neighbourhood.

The viral video shows the man approaching the woman and hitting her across her face. As she tries to push him away, he hits her again. The two are seen arguing as the man continues to approach the woman menacingly. Another man in the video is seen trying to intervene and stop Mohsin as he drags the woman by her hand. But he does not stop, he pulls the woman by her hair and repeatedly hits her across the face.

In a video statement, the woman has said the incident took place on Monday. “We had suffered a loss of about Rs 4,000- Rs 5,000. So I scolded a woman staff member. He (Mohsin) was angry and asked me why I had scolded her. I asked him if he has a relationship with the girl because of which he is defending her. He then started hitting me. I asked him not to hit me and to talk calmly, but he did not stop,” she said.

“I tried to call police on the 100 helpline, but he snatched my phone. The phone was running on low charge and eventually switched off. Then I started running and somehow escaped,” the woman said.

The woman said in her statement that Mohsin had later apologised to her. “He apologised to me, so I forgave him and did not approach the police. When the video became viral, police came to know. I did not want to file a complaint. I did not want him to face action. But police and others explained to me that this has happened to me, and it should not happen to anyone else. Everyone supported me. Then I filed a complaint,” she said.

“I am thankful to those who have supported me. I am from the Northeast. I am glad that the police, the media have stood beside me. Thank you so much,” the woman added.

Ahmedabad: Man wanted in 47-yr-old theft case traced

A 70-year-old man was arrested on Monday in a 47-year-old case of theft that he allegedly committed when he was 23 years old. He was released on bail by a court on Tuesday.

Dharmabhai Warli, a resident of Jhalori village in Surat’s Umargam taluka, was arrested for the offence originally registered at Umargam police station in 1976, which was transferred to Bhilad police station in Valsad district in 2000. According to the police, after the Bhilad police station was set up, old records of Umargam police were shifted to it.

The police said that Dharmabhai was involved in the theft of wooden logs from the forest department depot at Bhilad. Assistant Sub-Inspector Vikrambhai Rathod, attached with the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Valsad, said: “We received a list of absconding criminals from our police chief. I, along with head constable Digvijay Sinh and three other constables, started looking for Warli. We zeroed in on Nagvas village, which has a population of 1,200 people.”

“The sarpanch, Dipak Warli, denied that anyone with the name of Dharmabhai lived in the village. We also looked at the election voter list and found no such person exists. The sarpanch then told us to look in the neighbouring Jhalori village,” he added.

In Jhalori village, the police team met Jayentibhai Patel, the husband of sarpanch Rekhaben Patel. “Jayentibhai said Dharmabhai stayed in the village but went with the surname Davariya,” said Rathod.

“Jayentibhai took us to a house where we found an elderly man, who identified himself as Dharmabhai. We asked if he earlier went by the name Dharmabhai Warli, he said ‘yes’. We were in plain clothes and identified ourselves as police officers… His son Arvindbhai said that around 12 years ago, a police team had come to their house and inquired about Dharmabhai Warli… he had then denied that any such person lived in the village. At that time, Dharmabhai was not at home,” he added.

Dharmabhai was arrested by the Valsad SOG police and his statement was recorded. He was later handed over to Bhilad police on Monday evening. During interrogation, Dharmabhai denied that he was involved in the theft.

Valsad SOG Inspector J N Goswami said, “We suspect Dharmabhai was hired by a teakwood smuggler to aid in the theft. We don’t know whether the stolen teakwood was seized by the police or not. Once we get the case papers, we would get the whole picture.”

Dharmabhai lives at Jharoli village with his wife Babliben and his grandchildren. His son Arvind and his wife sell imitation jewellery in neighbouring Aat village. Sources in the family said that Dharmabhai worked as a farm labourer and as helpers at a medical store in Vapi for 10 years and also in a ship. At present, he does farming.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Dharmabhai said, “I have not committed any theft… some enemy of mine must have given my name to the police. If I had committed theft, I could have done the same while I worked in the medical store.” He added that his extended family resides in Jhalori village.

Mumbai confidential: All Is Not Well

The absence of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar during a visit by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, his decision to raise the issue of reservations for Muslims deemed as a no-go area by the BJP, and his statement on Sunday about being unsure how long he would be at the helm of the state finance department has sown doubt if all is well in the Ajit Pawar-BJP relationship. Sharad Pawar-led NCP leaders like Eknath Khadse claim that it seems that Ajit Pawar is feeling left out in the present power dispensation.

Contentious Kit

An idea about distribution of agriculture kits to farmers in Maharashtra was floated by an official in the CMO. Unable to reject the idea outright, senior officials said that they will check the viability of the project. Now the officials are wondering as to why the government should provide tools to farmers as almost all farmers have their own tools. However, as the orders came directly from the CMO, officials are apprehensive of airing their views.

PM Modi degree row: Ahmedabad Court refuses separate trials against Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh

An Ahmedabad magistrate court on Saturday rejected an application moved by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh seeking that the trials be conducted separately against the two AAP leaders over the criminal defamation allegations by Gujarat University (GU) in relation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree.

The application was tendered after the Additional Magistrate Court of SJ Panchal turned down requests by the AAP leaders’ lawyer Bhavuk Chauhan to adjourn the trial proceedings for the day.

Chauhan cited the AAP leaders’ pending petitions before the Gujarat High Court where they are seeking the quashing of summons issued by the Ahmedabad magistrate court on April 15.

Gujarat University, the complainant represented by advocate Amit Nair, registered a “strong objection” against adjournment, adding that “all witnesses are present here today, including the complainant”.

Following the objections, Additional Magistrate Panchal also said that he could not stay the matter any further.

Arguing for separation of trial, it was submitted by the AAP leaders that the two accused — Kejriwal and Singh — made the defamatory statements as alleged by GU on separate days, that the content of the said defamatory statements was different for the two accused, that the said content was uploaded on different handles of X, formerly Twitter, and were posted on social media on different days.

Submitting that the complainant has not invoked IPC sections 34 and 120B, that is charges of common intent and criminal conspiracy, while filing their complaint under IPC section 500, this would then deserve two separate trials against the two accused, while adding that allegations against Kejriwal cannot be read against Singh and vice-versa.

Meanwhile, Nair, on behalf of the varsity, submitted that the complainant is the same, the evidence and witnesses are the same against the two accused, and “separating trial would cause enormous damage, would cause inconvenience to the witnesses.”

Man dupes people of lakhs with fake e-challan payment link in Ahmedabad, arrested

A man from Jharkhand has been arrested by Ahmedabad Crime Branch for allegedly cheating thousands of vehicle owners with fake e-challan links and extracting lakhs of rupees.

Identified as Sudhanshu Mishra alias Chiku, the 25-year-old accused is a resident of Ranchi. Along with his accomplice, he allegedly asked unsuspecting people to pay the fines for traffic violations on “echallan.parivahan.in”. He had created the fake website with a URL similar to the actual website of the city traffic police, which is echallan.parivahan.gov.in.

The accused found the details of traffic violators from a portal of the Ahmedabad Traffic Police. They allegedly got more details from another insurance website, and also used mParivahan app of the Ministry of Road of Transport to get the phone numbers of the vehicle owners, said police. The accused posed as traffic personnel while calling them to seek the pending dues..

Mishra who worked in the stock market returned to Kolkata after the pandemic where he met an old acquaintance Rajesh who was allegedly already involved in the fraud.

“After working with him for a fortnight, Mishra came to Dhanbad, Jharkhand, where he met his friend Saptam Nandan who also assisted him. Paltam Das, also a resident of Devghar in Jharkhand, assisted the accused by taking in the payments from the people deducting 20 per cent of the money received, and giving the rest to them. If they did not pay the amount demanded by the impostors, they would threaten that the police would come for them,” a statement said.

According to the police, the accused called more than a thousand vehicle drivers between January and August this year.

“Playing India In Ahmedabad…”: Sourav Ganguly Fires World Cup Warning To Pakistan | Cricket News

File photo of Sourav Ganguly

India and Pakistan are set for some enthralling cricketing battles on the 22-yard strip, with the two Asian giants set to face each other on multiple occasions in the coming months. With three matches in the Asia Cup likely, India and Pakistan are also scheduled to clash in the ODI World Cup next month. Sourav Gangulyformer India skipper, doesn’t agree with certain players’ suggestion that it is ‘just another game’, and wants Rohit Sharma‘s men to be fully prepared. While Paksitan do have a top team, Ganguly doesn’t feel playing India in Ahmedabad on the World Cup stage will be as easy for them as it seems.

“It is a huge game. Always was and always will be. You have realised how important it is in the context of the World Cup. I used to treat it very much like an India Australia, India South Africa contest. I used to get into the mindset that it is still the red ball or the white ball you are up against and prepare myself like that. You can’t let the occasion get to you because that’s when you tend to lose focus,” Ganguly said in a chat on RevSportz.

“No its not just another game. You have to prepare yourself that way. That’s how you manage pressure. Some manage and some don’t manage. In my tenure we had a great record against Pakistan but this time round it will be a more competitive game. Last year after Pakistan beat India in Dubai things have changed. Pakistan is also a very good side and it is amazing how they keep churning out extraordinary talent. But playing India in India, playing India in Ahmedabad and playing India in front of 110,000 fans is very different thing,” he explained.

Ganguly also explained his earlier statement, suggesting India will not win all the finals. The former BCCI president said that the team needs to focus on small milestones first. To win a final, first they have to reach one.

“Saying that India will not always win finals, he went on to say, ‘You won’t win all finals’. But then you need to make it to the final first. So you need to break things down. First you need to play well and win the majority of the nine games to be able to make the final. Don’t think about the final at the start of the tournament. It is much like batting. When you go into bat don’t think of the 100. Get to 50, 60, 70 and then when you get to 90 that’s when you think of the 100. For the World Cup it is the same. First play well and get to the final. Once you are there that’s when you plan for the final and try and win it,” Dada explained.

IndiGo launches Goa-Abu Dhabi direct flights from Sept 2, boosting travel links and Indian-Middle East connectivity.

In an exhilarating development, the Manohar International Airport in North Goa has collaborated with IndiGo Airlines to kickstart a thrice-weekly flight service connecting Goa and Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) from September 2, 2023.

According to an exclusive statement from a senior official at the airport powerhouse, GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL), the inaugural flight will take off on the first Saturday of September, 00:25 AM sharp.

The return journey is equally captivating. The Indigo flight from AUH to GOX will take off at 03:15 and land at GOX (Manohar International Airport) at 08:10 respectively. This outstanding service will be offered again on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

IndiGo made headlines earlier this year in July when it announced the start of direct flight services from the cutting-edge North Goa airport to Abu Dhabi. This strategic route launch was made in response to the rising demand for travel to the Middle East and Goa, a coastal paradise known for its peaceful beaches.

With this new addition, IndiGo’s already robust connectivity with Abu Dhabi, which includes significant Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, and Hyderabad—will be further strengthened.

Vinay Malhotra, the Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, shared his insights on the move. “The new route is planned to meet the substantial demand in India for travel to the Middle East,” he affirmed, adding that these innovative connections align with IndiGo’s proactive approach to cater to such demands.

With this expansion, IndiGo will now facilitate a staggering 52 flights per week to Abu Dhabi from eight key Indian cities, thus reinforcing the ties between India and the UAE.

Interestingly, IndiGo has not only set its sights on Goa. The airline has also unveiled new flight services to the UAE capital from Lucknow and Ahmedabad, further exemplifying its commitment to broadening its global presence.
