The BCCI has invited the owners of the 10 IPL teams to hold an informal meeting in Ahmedabad on April 16 where a potential increase in franchise auction funds and player retention may be discussed. The meeting will be held during the match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. “IPL owners have been invited to an informal meeting. There is no fixed agenda. As the IPL will enter its second month, it will be a good time for all stakeholders to come together,” a BCCI official told PTI.

Possible discussions could revolve around a major auction later this year regarding player retention and a potential increase in auction funds (currently Rs 100 crore).

BCCI secretary Jay Shah, president Roger Binny and IPL president Arun Dhumal will be present in the meeting.

Currently, teams can retain four players ahead of each major auction, which takes place every three years and was last held in 2022. The next big auction will be held before the 2025 league season.

The two-month IPL begins on March 22 and the final will end on May 26 in Chennai.

Qualifiers 1 and knockout rounds will be held in Ahmedabad on May 21 and 22, while the qualifiers will be held in Chennai on May 24.

The BCCI first announced the schedule for the first two weeks and then announced the full line-up for the tournament last week after the election dates were revealed.
