Congress leader withdraws candidature from Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha seat

Congress leader Rohan Gupta on Monday announced his decision to withdraw his candidature from the Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha seat due to his father’s “serious health condition”.

Gupta was among the 43 candidates announced by the Congress on March 12, including seven from Gujarat.

Hasmukh Patel of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently the sitting MP from Ahmedabad East.

Gujarat will go to polls in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 7. Counting is scheduled for June 4. The BJP won all 26 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
