Land Rover Defender Convertible Breaks Cover, Only 5 Will Be Made

Dutch coachbuilder Heritage Customs has begun production of the Land Rover Defender Convertible, with a second unit already in production at its Enter plant in the Netherlands.

This unique Defender convertible is part of a limited edition, with Heritage Customs planning to produce only five of these stunning vehicles.

The Valiance convertible is based on the latest L663-generation Defender 90, with significant revisions including a sixth seat, special forged wheels, bespoke leather upholstery, sports seats and various changes inside and out.

The Valiance Defender is painted in Sunshine Yellow with contrasting black elements such as the roll cage, front bonnet and side vents. The convertible’s fabric top is carefully handcrafted and can be controlled electronically.

Inside, the Valiance Defender features black quilted upholstery, aluminum paneling and an extra passenger seat in the center of the front row. The interior also features yellow stitching to complement the vibrant exterior paint.

According to Autocar UK, the cost of this unique customization is reported to be £58,000 (over Rs 59 lakh). However, it’s important to note that this amount does not include any modifications to the powertrain, which will remain within the customer’s chosen factory specification.

Co-owner Niels van Roij describes the convertible as a tribute to the Defender’s signature soft-top style and its rich history. This isn’t the first time van Roij has created a unique ride; he’s previously attracted attention with a Rolls-Royce Wraith shooting brake and a modified Tesla Model S.

Heritage has hinted that another convertible is in the works, promising “the next generation of the Heritage Customs Valiance convertible.
