‘Shy’ chef James Martin is desperate to keep his love life ‘more private’

Celebrity chef James Martin recently opened up about his relationship and why he’s “shy” about his personal life after splitting from his ex-girlfriend.

Confirming that he had split from his long-term girlfriend in March this year, Martin offered a glimpse into his personal life.

The celebrity chef claimed he followed Sir Cliff Richard’s advice about maintaining personal space.

speaking on Spooning with Mark Wogan Podcast, when Mark suggested he was “shy”, James explained himself.

Mark gushed: “We’ve met a few times over the years and what impresses me… is that you’re on stage with your tour soon… You’re on TV every weekend. But he is, but he’s very private and kind of… a little shy.”

Responding to the host, Martin admitted: “I didn’t sign up for this. I enjoy it, don’t get me wrong.” [but] I didn’t sign up for that. And I remember I was actually talking to Cliff Richard and he said, ‘Your personal life is separate.’

Martin also admitted that he was “nervous” before his upcoming show.

He shared: “I used to walk by the Palladium and I never dreamed I’d be there on a Sunday night headlining an entire show by myself. And not just once, but four times.”

“And you go there and you come out and the place is crowded and you get nervous because I’m shy,” he said.
