A worried animal lover rushed into an animal rescue center with a motionless baby hedgehog as she desperately carried it off the roadside to safety.

Despite being given food, she was concerned that the cat “hadn’t moved or pooped all night,” and she anxiously waited for the vet to return to the hall to deliver some painful news: “This is not a hedgehog, but a hat hairball.”

The caring stranger took the furry accessory to Lower Mosswood Nature Reserve and Wildlife Hospital in Cheshire first thing on Thursday after caring for it for several hours.

Duty veterinarian Janet Coates tells us independent: “She was an older lady, maybe sixty or seventy, well-spoken and well-meaning.

“She said she saw something on the side of the road that looked like a hedgehog.

“From a distance, you can only take it at face value. She didn’t handle it at all – she scooped it into a box of cat food and put it in a warm, dark place by itself. She Everything was done so well. She barely glanced at it because she didn’t want to emphasize the point.”

Dr. Kotze said when she opened the box, she knew it wasn’t a hedgehog.

“It was obvious to us, but I could also see how she was wrong,” the vet added. “I went back and explained, ‘Sorry, it’s just a gadget.’”

“She said: ‘You’re kidding me! Oh my god, how did I do that?

“She was so focused on doing the right thing. She was worried that it wasn’t moving or even having a poop. If it had it would have been horrific.”

The 57-year-old added that she had “never seen anything like this in my five years here”.

She said: “One time someone brought a rag doll with a crow stuck in it. It was strange, but every day is different here.

“People usually fill out enrollment forms, but we never got to that stage. She just grabbed the box and left. She had a heart of gold and totally followed all the advice.”

Posting on Facebook, staff wrote: “Our hearts melted when a kind soul thought she was rescuing a little hedgehog, only to discover it was a fluffy pom-pom in a plush hat. This cutie The “little piggy” still gets all the love, and some cozy TLC.

“Remember, kindness knows no bounds, even for a furry artificial friend. Remember, if you spot a hedgehog outside during the day, something is wrong.

“Place them in a box with a heat source and call your local veterinarian for help. Let’s keep our prickly friends safe!”

The charity provides educational trips to schools and other groups and cares for around 2,000 injured animals each year.
