Princess Charlotte may ‘give up’ royal title when she grows up

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s daughter Princess Charlotte has the ability to give up her royal title once she comes of age.

talking to Ok! magazine on the eve of the royal’s 9th birthday, former BBC royal correspondent Jenny Bond reflected on her strong-willed nature and refusal to bow to tradition.

In keeping with the time when older brother Prince George will become King of Britain, Charlotte will be honored with the title of Princess Royal.

However, the royal commentator argued that the school-goer “certainly would not want to be burdened with more titles.”

“I think in time we will be in a very modern era. I question whether Charlotte will want to carry the burden of more titles. By then she could be a working woman,” Jenny shared. “Things may change a lot in the next generation.”

“It seems to me a natural choice that she could become Princess Royal. It’s a much more traditional route for the eldest daughter,” she explained.

“I also think she probably feels like she wants to be Princess Charlotte. We have William and Catherine who often ask the public to call them by their first names, so maybe Her daughter will do the same,” the royal expert added.

“Charlotte probably won’t even use the title of princess until she’s older and certainly won’t want to be burdened with more titles,” he said.
