Prince Harry has been warned that William is determined to stop his brother from reuniting with the Welsh children to mark Princess Charlotte’s ninth birthday.

A fresh photo shared on social media by the Prince and Princess of Wales commemorates the incident, just ahead of Prince Harry’s upcoming visit to the UK next week.

With the duke set to attend the Invictus Games church service alone on May 8, royal commentator Helena Chard claims any possibility of a reunion between Prince Harry and his nieces and nephews is off the table.

In discussion with Tom Harwood and Emily Carver on GB News, Chard said she does not think Prince William would “allow” Harry to “hug” Princess Charlotte after her ninth birthday.

Elaborating on the Invictus Games event, Chard revealed: “I don’t think he will meet Princess Charlotte, but he will meet King Charles. It’s a very wonderful visit.

“Prince Harry is obviously coming for the Invictus Games service on Thanksgiving. That’s one of the things we can commend him for, the sporting event. And he’ll be doing readings, too.”

Chard told GB News: “Wouldn’t it be nice if Princess Charlotte could get a lovely hug from her uncle Harry? But that’s not going to happen. There’s no way Prince William would allow that.”

She said: “I think Prince Harry needs to mend some bridges, he needs to do something to show a little bit of will. There’s been a lot of damage there.

“And obviously, King Charles wants to see his beloved boy. It’s easy to repair that relationship, but I think Prince Harry has to give a little more.”

Chard also suggested that it could be the “royal children” who help bridge the rift between the Sussexes and the royal family as they grow up, as they “will become more curious” about what they have done to some members of the family. Why haven’t you seen it?

Chard told Tom and Emily: “As kids grow up, they become more curious about their family – why haven’t I met my cousins? Why haven’t I met my uncle and his wife?

“And hopefully it’s the kids who mend the relationship because obviously they all want to see each other.”

He added, “It would be really sad for that not to happen. In fact, it would be kind of like a damaged generation if something didn’t happen.”

“But hopefully King Charles will also give a little push.”
