Vistara Airways, jointly owned by Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, said on Monday it had been hit by multiple flight delays and cancellations in the past few days.

The airline said its teams were working to stabilize the situation.

A Vistara spokesperson said: “We confirm that we have experienced a number of flight cancellations and unavoidable delays over the past few days due to various operational reasons.”

“Our teams are working tirelessly to stabilize the situation. We apologize for the inconvenience these disruptions have caused our valued customers,” the spokesperson added.

Angry passengers complained online about long delays.

“I’ve seen a lot of these complaints about Vistara over the past two days…not sure what’s wrong. Some say there’s a pilot/crew shortage,” said Swinging Sayings posted on X.

“Yes, too many complaints. Can @vistaara be more honest with customers about what is wrong, how long it will take, give advance notice of reduced flights and restore credibility? There are too many lies now. People trust vistaara but are being treated badly To the detriment, @JM_Scindia,” TV Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Aarin Capital Partners.

“Another Vistara flight delayed by an hour! They have really integrated well into the Air India culture,” said stand-up comedian Anshu Mor.

Historian and author Vikram Sampath said his flight was canceled at the last minute.

“Sad @airvistara…5pm flight to Mumbai Bloor was canceled at the last minute citing “operational reasons”. We changed the booking to 9am. You announce boarding and then say “operational reasons”, The flight leaves now at 11. What else do you want to know? Care about your customers, their time, money? As a CV Gold member you are frustrated with your poor service,” Mr Sampath posted.

In early March, Vistara’s flight operations at Delhi and Mumbai airports were affected mainly due to pilot absences.

Post-privatization, Vistara is merging with Air India, with Singapore Airlines acquiring a 25.1% stake in the once state-controlled airline.
