Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag was the star of the day as the team handed Delhi Capitals their second consecutive defeat in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Parag, who led the home team to a 12-run victory over Delhi Capitals, smashed South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje for 25 runs in the 20th over. The late surge proved to be a vital link as RR defeated DC by 12 runs in this match. After Parag’s blitz, one of his old posts went viral on social media, in which the Indian all-rounder, who has not played for the national team, talked about hitting four sixes in an over.

“My inner conscience tells me that I hit 4 sixes in one over during this IPL…,” Parag had tweeted last year.

After being named man of the match, Parag said he felt unwell before the game and had to take painkillers before taking the field. RR continued the home team’s winning streak as they registered their 12th consecutive win over Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

“I worked very hard, I was in bed for the past three days, taking painkillers, and today I just got up and I’m happy,” Parag said in a speech.

The all-rounder has made a stellar start to IPL 2024 and benefited from a clear role in the Rajasthan line-up, batting at No. 4. He went on to attribute his stellar start to IPL 2024 to his domestic performances.

“I know how I feel about myself. It doesn’t change whether I get zero points or not. It also has a lot to do with the type of season, I had a great domestic season which helped. Former Four have to play 20 overs, keep wickets low and stop, and in the first game Sanju bhayya did that,” he added.
