As the deadline for India’s T20 World Cup squad approaches, former batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu has advised head coach Rahul Dravid and the selectors not to compromise with quality bowlers while picking the team. Sidhu feels that if the selectors compromise with the bowling and choose an extra batsman, the tournament will end in disappointment for India, who last won the ICC event in 2013. Answering a question, Sidhu advised Dravid and the selectors to choose three spinners and an equal number of quality fast bowlers.

Sidhu also confirmed the improbable selection of Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Khaleel Ahmed and ignoring star pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

“My simple advice to Rahul Dravid is that if you want to win this tournament, have specialist bowlers who can take five wickets. The collapse of a team’s character starts from the point of compromise. You have three bowlers in the form of Bishnoi, Kuldeep and Jadeja. Is a spinner.” Who chooses himself. If Mayank Yadav is fit, he should come in this team,” Sidhu said on Star Sports.

The 60-year-old suggested that India should utilize their resources as playing extra batsmen will not help the Rohit Sharma-led side win the World Cup.

“India have a lot of options and they should not compromise and choose players who can bat and bowl a bit. You think of all the World Cup-winning captains, they would have gone for quality bowling options. That’s the secret. If seven batsmen can’t win you the World Cup, even the eighth batsman can’t do anything.
