The Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals IPL 2024 match witnessed a controversial moment as former batsman Travis Head was relieved of the stumping decision. This happened in the 15th over when Avesh Khan bowled to the head. Against a full delivery outside off, Head turned his head and chased the ball. During this he lost his balance. Samson bowled the ball in the direction of the stumps. Replays showed it was unclear, although TV umpire Rohan Pandit gave it not out. RR’s Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara can be seen engaged in an animated discussion after the decision was given.

Opting to bat, SRH opener Head took full advantage of the early respite to score his fourth half-century of the season with 58 off 44 balls, while Nitish (76 not out from 42 balls) completed his innings of 96 runs. Scored his second half-century. Run stand on 57 balls for the third wicket.

Nitish and Heinrich Klaasen (42 not out off 19 balls) added 70 runs in 32 balls to take SRH past 200 for the fifth time this season.

Head, who was dropped by Riyan Parag on the first ball of the innings, hit six fours and three sixes, while Nitish hit eight sixes and three fours during his ferocious onslaught.

Yuzvendra Chahal, playing his 300th match, who has been selected for the T20 World Cup, was on the attacking line as he was separated by two batsmen and conceded 62 runs in his quota of four overs.

Avesh Khan (2/39) got the first breakthrough by getting Abhishek Sharma (12) caught at deep midwicket. After this, Sandeep Sharma (1/31) took the wicket of Anmolpreet Singh (5) on the very first ball, due to which SRH scored 37 runs for 2 wickets in the powerplay, which is their lowest score in this IPL.

However, the spin duo of Chahal and R Ashwin (0/36) disappointed as the batsmen gave away plenty of runs to put SRH on the path to recovery.

Chahal had a very bad night when Head hit him for two sixes and a four during his 18-run over when he came to bowl immediately after the powerplay.

The leg spinner was then dismissed by Nitish Reddy, who smashed him with two sixes and two fours to collect 21 runs as SRH reached 113 for 2 in 13 overs.

Nitish, who also hit two sixes off Ashwin and Avesh, then sent Sandeep to extra cover while Head hit another six off Avesh in the 15th over.

However, Australia played the pacer on his middle stump as SRH slipped to 131/3.

After this, Nitish completed his half-century in 30 balls with one run and dismissed Ashwin for six consecutive runs.

After this, new player Klaasen also joined the party and sent Chahal into orbit with back-to-back sixes. When Boult returned, Klaasen picked him for two fours, while hitting another six off Sandeep.
