India celebrated its 75th Republic Day on 26 January this year. The celebrations began with an impressive parade from the National War Memorial, where PM Narendra arrived with his convoy, which included JLR’s hand-built, fully armed Range Rover Sentinel worth Rs 10 crore. This SUV has been designed by the company’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division in the UK.

PM Modi has been using the king-sized SUV for the past few years, keeping it on the top priority list when it comes to his official travels, rallies and election campaigns. Many rare features have been included in the vehicle to make it stand out from the crowd.

Here’s why the Range Rover Sentinel is so special

This massive SUV comes with a set of armored glasses, which provides robust and supreme protection to everyone sitting inside the cabin. The goggles are designed in such a way that they can take the load of bullets and can even deal with explosives and chemical attacks. It is loaded with a long list of high-level security features, which ensure that the passengers inside do not suffer a single scratch from any potential attacker.

Top Features

Talking about top security features, it comes with a custom-made front window, which offers an opening of only 150 mm for exchanging or taking important documents without exposing the passenger. In the event of an emergency or an encounter with a potential attacker, the SUV is equipped with a run-flat system, which allows it to drive on punctured tires for more than 50 km with an average speed of 80 kmph.

Engine and Power

Under the hood, the four-wheeler is powered by a trusty 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine, which produces 374 bhp of maximum power. It is claimed that the Sentinel can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 10.4 seconds and has an electronically restricted top speed of 193 kmph.
