'Excited': 'Ramayana' star Arun Govil on BJP picking him as Meerut candidate

Veteran actor Arun Govil, best known for playing Lord Ram in the popular TV show Ramayana, will visit Meerut in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, days after he was in Meerut, also his hometown) was nominated as the PPP candidate.

Mr Govil said he was happy to visit Meerut, where he was born and brought up.

Mr Govil has arrived at the BJP headquarters in the national capital and met BJP General Secretary Sunil Bansal. Later in the day, he will travel to Meerut where he will offer prayers at the Augharnath Shiv Mandir.

Arun Govil said in an interview: “I am very happy to compete in Meerut. This is the city where I was born, grew up and studied. On the streets where I lived, everything flashed before my eyes. I Feeling proud to serve my people. I went to Meerut three years ago.”

“I am happy that everything I have done so far has been a form of service and now it will be a different form of service to the people,” he added.

He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for constructing the Rama temple in Ayodhya in such a short period of time.

He said, “The entire country, the world is immersed in the joy of Ram; the temple at Ram Lalla took so many years to build. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed it in such a short time. The prime minister has a drive and energy not seen in any other leader so far, and he seems apolitical; he seems to be a hard-working man.”

“Those who are ready to do anything for the people of the state, the women of the state are doing so and all the promises they have made are being fulfilled. Be it Ram temple or women empowerment, everything is there and if we look at it, it is expected It will break the 400 figure set,” Mr Govil said.

Earlier, the veteran actor took to his social media account to express his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the selection committee for fielding him in the Lok Sabha elections from Meerut constituency.

The parliamentary elections for 543 constituencies will begin on April 19 and end on June 1, and will be held in seven phases. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.
