Lee wrote on Instagram: “One week ago today I had a discectomy on my spine at L5/S1.
“The surgery went well, but my surgeon told me that my nerve was very stuck and it would take longer than expected to remove the bulging disc without damaging the nerve.
“He also told me that the condition was not going to get better on its own, so having surgery was the right decision,” he added.

“It goes without saying what it means to me this year, it’s very sad but the reason I looked so happy in hospital is that I’m no longer in chronic pain and we’ve found a solution , I have some things to do…
“This season has been really tough so far and it feels like I’ve been dragging myself through the mud.
“In a weird way, I was eliminated [of] My pain, but it also forced me to take care of myself, which is what matters. “
