Man shot and killed while resisting kidnapping of sister: police

A 25-year-old man from the nomadic community of Pardi was shot dead while resisting an alleged abduction of his sister in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, an official said.

The incident took place in Dharnavada district, about 40 kilometers from the district headquarters, police said.

Sub-inspector Rajendra Singh, in-charge of Dharnawada police station, said Dharampal Pardi was shot after he opposed an alleged attempt to abduct his sister. Shot in the foot.

Dharampal Paldi, who was bleeding profusely, was taken to a nearby hospital, which shifted him to Bhopal for better medical care.

He said the victim died while being transported to the state capital.

Police have registered a murder case against seven to eight people and efforts are on to arrest them, the official said, adding that the crime appeared to be the fallout of a feud.
