In Uttarakhand, voters get 20% discount at restaurants

Uttarakhand has five Lok Sabha seats and they will go to polls in a phased manner on April 19.

From the evening of April 19 to April 20, hotels and restaurants under the Uttarakhand Hotels and Restaurants Association will get 20% off their food bills if they exercise their franchise in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Discount.

The association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Election Commission in this regard. The move is aimed at boosting turnout in the state.

“After the poll closes on the 19th, guests staying at our hotels until April 20 will receive a 20% discount on food charges. We have decided to do this to increase turnout and encourage people to give up the franchise. Uttarakhand Sandeep Sahni, president of the State Hotels and Restaurants Association, told ANI that they can avail the discount simply by showing the electoral ink smeared on their fingers.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande said many organizations are coming forward to help increase the turnout in the state. Mr. Jogdande said the Uttarakhand Hotel Restaurants Association had made the proposal and the committee had agreed to it.

Earlier, in the 2014 and 2019 general elections, the ruling NDA led by the Bharatiya Janata Party had won in all the Lok Sabha constituencies.

The Lok Sabha constituencies in the state include Trigarhwal, Garhwal, Almora, Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar and Hardwar.

The 2024 Lok Sabha polls will be held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1.
