Hyderabad woman found murdered in Australia, husband flies home with son

Chaithanya Madhagani’s parents appeal to government to help bring her body home

Hyderabad:

A 36-year-old woman from Hyderabad was found murdered in Australia and her husband, who allegedly killed her, flew back to the city and handed over the child to her parents.

Chaithanya Madhagani’s body was reportedly found in a wheelie bin on the roadside in Buckley on Saturday. She lives in Australia with her husband and son.

According to Uppal MLA Bandari Lakshma Reddy, he met her parents today after learning about the incident as the woman hails from his constituency.

The lawmaker told the Press Trust of India news agency that he had written a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs at the request of the woman’s parents, requesting that the woman’s body be transported to Hyderabad. The MLA said he also informed the office of Union Minister G Kishan Reddy about the matter.

The Justice Department further said that based on information provided by the woman’s parents, their son-in-law “admitted” to killing their daughter.

Victoria Police said in a statement on March 9: “Homicide detectives are investigating after locating a deceased person in Buckley, near Winchelsea. Officers located the deceased on Pollock Hill Road around noon.”

A second crime scene has been established at a residential address in Milka Road, Point Cook, and is believed to be linked to the homicide, the statement said, adding that investigators were treating the death as suspicious.

The statement said that at this stage of the investigation, it is believed that all parties involved are known to each other and that the criminal may have fled overseas.
