Asaduddin Owaisi meets Mukhtar Ansari’s family at their home in Ghazipur

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi paid tribute to Mukhtar Ansari and visited his residence in Ghazipur.

He expressed his condolences on the death of Mukhtar Ansari on social media platform Our thoughts are with his family, supporters and loved ones at this difficult time.”

Taking a veiled jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he said: “Insha Allah, light will break through the darkness. If you are ‘Pharaoh’, then ‘Moses’ will also come.”

Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari was buried at Kali Bagh cemetery in Ghazipur on Saturday. His remains were buried near his parents’ graves.

Heavy security was deployed in Ghazipur due to his last rites. Police were deployed on the route from his residence to the cemetery.

After the autopsy, Mukhtar Ansari’s body was brought to his Gazipur residence on Friday night.However, the autopsy report stated that Mukhtar Ansari died of a heart attack

Mukhtar Ansari died on Thursday at a hospital in Banda, Uttar Pradesh. However, his family claimed he had “poisoned his food”.

According to official sources from the hospital, Mukhtar Ansari was admitted to the hospital around 8:25 pm on Thursday. A team of nine doctors cared for him before his death, the release added.

Meanwhile, a three-member team has been formed to conduct an authoritative investigation into Mukhtar Ansari’s death.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Banda issued the order regarding the judicial inquiry.

In April 2023, Mukhtar Ansari was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison by the MP-MLA court for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai. He was sentenced to life in prison on March 13, 2024, in a case related to the use of forged documents to obtain a weapons license in 1990.
