Gang behind fake BMW, VW airbags nabbed in Delhi, 3 arrested

Delhi Police has arrested three persons in connection with a gang manufacturing and selling fake airbags in the market. Police seized around 900 such bags from the gang.

The scam came to light on Tuesday when police raided a number of locations near Matasundari Road in the capital.

“A total of more than 900 airbags were found, and they set up a workshop to manufacture these fake airbags using the logos of different car brands. Counterfeit airbags were seized from 16 car brands including BMW, Volkswagen, Kia, Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, etc. ”, said DCP Center M Harshvardhan.

Faizan, Mohd Faraz and Furkan have been arrested in the case.

According to police, the men have been manufacturing fake airbags for the past four years and selling them at half the price of genuine ones.

People whose car airbags were damaged used to buy the airbags from them at half price, police said.

“They used to work as scrap dealers. Then they learned how to make airbags. If there was an accident and the airbags were damaged, it would be very expensive to repair them properly, so they thought why not make airbags and put some on them What about airbags? “They supply these bags to different workshops across the country, including Hyderabad. “

Police have written to all car companies asking them to take part in the investigation. According to the police, the airbags will also be inspected for quality.
