King Charles’s American friend reveals the truth about the monarch’s health

Famous singer Lionel Richie has given a big update on the health of his cancer-stricken friend King Charles during an event in America.

Richie, who performed at the monarch’s coronation ceremony, revealed that Charles is ‘doing well’ but ‘he needs to sit low’ as he continues cancer treatment.

The music icon has revealed that his friend King Charles, 75, is doing ‘fantastic’ during his cancer treatment, after the monarch returned to public-facing duties this week.

Richie, in conversation with People“Happily I can say, he’s doing fantastic. Again, I think, he needs to sit back, you know what I say,” he said at the opening ceremony of the King’s Trust Global Gala in New York on Thursday. The most important part is that he is well.

“He is back on his duties and so, I would not want him to be the first to come here – let’s not prove anything here.”

The musician also joked that he was expecting a phone call from King after the gig at Cipriani South Street, adding: ‘Believe me, my question [from Charles] Now it’s, ‘How was it?’ After tonight’s over, I’ll get that call, ‘Well, how was it?’.’

The 74-year-old singer has been friends with Prince William and Harry’s father King Charles since they met through the Prince’s Trust in the 1980s.

King Charles, who has been undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer since early February, returned to public-facing duties on Tuesday as he and Queen Camilla visited University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Center in London.
