Delhi Police on Friday issued a traffic advisory on routes that may be affected by the Pragati Meydan World Book Fair in central Delhi, officials said.

World Book Fair New Delhi 2024 will be held at Pragati Maidan from February 10 to 18.

It is said that the book fair is likely to attract around 25,000 to 30,000 visitors per day, with the number likely to increase to around 40,000 per day on weekends.

The traffic advisory said that due to the impact of the exhibition, Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, Ring Road, Shershah Road and Purana Quila Road ) Traffic congestion is expected. Motorists are asked to avoid these roads to ensure a smooth journey, the statement said.

Traffic police said that spectators can enter through gates 4 and 10, and gates 5-B, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are prohibited from entering. Exhibitors will enter from gates 1 and 5B 10. ITPO officials will enter from gates 9, 10 and 1, they said.

To ensure smooth traffic management in Pragati Maidan area, no vehicle is allowed to park or park anywhere on Mathura Road and Bhairon Marg, and tourist vehicles are not allowed to park on Shershah Road, Purana Quila Road, Bhagwan Das Road and Tilak Marg, the advisory said. .

Vehicles parked on the above-mentioned roads will be towed away and held legally responsible in accordance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Law. It is said that the towed vehicles will be parked in the traffic pit in front of Bhairon Mandir and Bhairon Marg.

People are asked to take public transport to Pragati Maidan.

The announcement stated that passengers taking the metro can get off at Supreme Court Metro Station and enter through Gate 10. One can also get off the train at Mandi House metro station and walk.

Tourists are advised to park their vehicles at Bhairon Mandir parking lot of ITPO, Bhairon Road, underground parking lot 1 of Delhi Zoo parking lot and exit near Gate No. 8 of ITPO, the advisory said.
