Delhi girl, 15, arrested for stabbing neighbor to death with water: police

Delhi police on Sunday arrested a 15-year-old girl for allegedly stabbing a neighbor to death during a fight over water from a public tap in Delhi’s Farsh Bazar area, a police officer said.

The victim, a 34-year-old woman, suffered multiple cuts to her left hand and stab wounds to her abdomen.

According to police, a call to PCR came in at 10.59pm on Friday and the caller said his wife had been stabbed in the abdomen and needed an ambulance.

“Based on a call received, the police team reached the location of Bikam Singh Colony Galli-2 and found an injured Soni in her room. She had two to three cut marks on her left hand, There was a small wound on the abdomen,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Surendra Choudhary said.

Soni was immediately rushed to Hatchwall Hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Soni and her husband Satbir got into an argument with their neighbours.

The police officer said that around 7:30 pm, Soni got into a fight with his neighbor’s wife and daughter over water from a public tap on the first floor of their home.

“During the altercation, Soni sprained the girl’s hand, prompting the girl to seek treatment at Hedgewar Hospital. The girl was treated as a non-medical legal case (MLC) patient and an X-ray of her hand was taken.

“Subsequently, the girl and her mother returned home and had another argument with Soni and her husband Satbir. During the second argument, Soni was stabbed by the girl,” the DCP said.

The girl has been arrested and will be taken to the Juvenile Justice Commission, the official said.
