Archana Patil Chakurkar joins BJP

Mumbai:

Archana Patil Chakurkar, daughter-in-law of former Lok Sabha speaker and Congress leader Shivraj Patil, today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Archana Patil is the president of Life Care Hospital and Research Center in Udgir and her husband Shailesh Patil Chandurkar is the Congress state secretary.

“I joined the BJP to work in politics. I was greatly influenced by the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam brought by Prime Minister Modi. It provided equal opportunities to women,” Archana Patil said in a formal statement today told reporters after joining the BJP at the event.

Archana Patil said, “I have worked in Latour’s grassroots and I will work in the BJP’s grassroots as well. I have never formally served in the Congress party. I joined the BJP because of its awareness Form has a great influence on me.”

She met Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his official residence ‘Sagar’ in south Mumbai on Friday.

Archana Patil was scheduled to join the BJP on Monday along with Shivraj Patil aide and former state minister Baswaraj Murumkar, but it was postponed due to his daughter’s wedding The plan.

Shivraj Patil served as Union Home Minister in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government from 2004 to 2008.
