Hegde, a six-time Lok Sabha member from Karnataka, further said that the party needs to win more than 20 states for this.
The MP also cited the case of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, which he said had been passed “with much effort” in the Lok Sabha and later in the Union House. But he pointed out that several state governments had not approved it and therefore it could not be implemented.
However, this is not the first time Hegde has made such remarks.
