Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday, April 23. After winning four out of seven games, CSK are fourth in the IPL 2024 standings. LSG, on the other hand, have also won four out of seven games and are placed fifth in the IPL 2024 standings. The last time these two teams met on April 19 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Lucknow had won easily by eight wickets.
Ahead of this exciting encounter, we take a look at the predicted XIs of both the sides.
CSK’s probable XI
Ruturaj Gaikwad (captain)
Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has had a good campaign with the bat this season. With 241 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 130.27, Gaikwad will be hoping to showcase his devastating form against LSG.
Rachin Ravindra
New Zealand opening batsman Rachin Ravindra is currently going through a bad phase in IPL 2024. The southpaw has struggled at the top of the order, managing only 133 runs in seven matches, but given his all-round abilities he will be favored against LSG. ,
Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane played an important role in CSK’s successful campaign last season. He hasn’t really been among the runs in IPL 2024 and has scored only 160 runs at a strike rate of 130.08, but his experience could help CSK against LSG.
Shivam Dubey
Shivam Dubey has been in the headlines for CSK in IPL 2024. With 245 runs in seven matches, Dubey leads CSK’s top run-scorer list. At an average of 49 with a strike rate of 157.05, Dubey has been performing consistently for Chennai.
Ravindra Jadeja
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja adds depth to the CSK lineup with bat and ball. He has not got many chances to bat but he has scored 141 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 141. Jadeja has also taken four wickets in seven matches.
Sameer Rizvi
One of the most expensive uncapped players, Samir Rizvi is most likely to get support in the lower middle order against LSG. Rizvi, who averages 125 runs, has scored only 15 runs in three innings so far, but can be devastating when given a chance.
MS Dhoni (wicketkeeper)
MS Dhoni continues to beat his age by entertaining the fans with his bat while at the crease. The Indian legend has not spent much time in the middle, but has still scored 87 runs in five innings at a remarkable strike rate of 255.88.
Deepak Chahar
Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar has been an integral part of the CSK camp since 2018. In five matches this year, Chahar has taken only four wickets at an economy of 9.08. He will look to attack early against LSG.
Mahesh Theekshana
Sri Lankan spinner Mahesh Theekshana played a key role in CSK’s spin bowling department in IPL 2023. This year he has played three matches and taken two wickets at an economy of 7.58. He can prove to be effective against LSG on the slow pitch of Chepauk.
Mustafizur Rahman
With 11 wickets in six matches, Mustafizur Rahman is the leading wicket-taker for CSK this season. His ability to generate bounce, pace as well as swing variety makes him a threat to any batting lineup.
Mathisha Pathirana
Mathisha Pathirana will lead CSK’s pace attack against Lucknow Supergiants. He has taken nine wickets in four matches at an economy of 7.31, including a match-winning four against MI.

LSG Predicted XI
quinton de kock
Quinton de Kock has gradually found his rhythm with the bat in IPL 2024. The southpaw has scored 228 runs in seven matches, including three fifty-plus scores. De Kock scored a solid half-century against CSK earlier this season and will look to continue scoring runs.
KL Rahul (captain and wicketkeeper)
Lucknow captain and wicketkeeper KL Rahul will open the innings with De Kock. The right-handed batsman has scored 286 runs in seven matches and is LSG’s leading run-scorer this season. His highest score of 82 runs in IPL 2024 also came in LSG’s win against CSK.
Deepak Hooda
With Devdutt Padikkal struggling to find form this season, Deepak Hooda could bat at No. 3 for the Super Giants. Due to lack of game-time, Hooda has not been among the run-scorers for LSG, but he is quite capable of adding important runs to the scoreboard and has scored over 1,000 runs in his IPL career.
marcus stoinis
Marcus Stoinis will play an important role against Chennai with the ball as well as the bat. The Australian all-rounder will be keen to make a big impact on his team’s fortunes against CSK as he looks to add to his 130 runs and two wickets in IPL 2024.
Nicholas Pooran
With 246 runs in seven matches, Nicholas Pooran is the second-highest run-scorer for the Super Giants this year. The Caribbean hard-hitter has scored at an average of 82 and a strike rate of 164, and he is a vital cog in LSG’s lineup.
Ayush Badoni
Ayush Badoni has been one of the key members of LSG’s batting unit in IPL 2024. Although Badoni has not been at his best this season, he has still managed to score 113 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 124.17.
Krunal Pandya
Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya has had a quiet performance in IPL 2024. He has scored only 58 runs and taken five wickets in seven matches, but he has been able to turn things around and will be eager to contribute more for LSG when they face CSK on Tuesday. ,
mohsin khan
Mohsin Khan has been a promising talent for LSG since his IPL debut and has the ability to take wickets regularly. The left-arm fast bowler has taken six wickets in four matches this season. Overall, in 18 IPL matches, Mohsin has taken 23 wickets at an economy of 7.61.
Ravi Bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi has played an important role in the spin department of LSG. He has taken five wickets in seven matches this season at an economy of 8.38. Since 2020, Bishnoi has taken seven wickets against CSK and is likely to take wickets in the upcoming encounter.
Naveen-ul-Haq
Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq is an integral part of LSG’s pace battery, having taken six wickets in five matches this season. A bowler of considerable variety, Naveen is capable of bowling in difficult conditions and will be one of LSG’s biggest threats with the ball against CSK.
Yash Thakur
With Mayank Yadav injured, Yash Thakur will likely open the innings for Lucknow with the ball. Thakur’s pace and swing variety has earned him eight wickets in six matches, including the first wicket of IPL 2024 against Gujarat recently.
