Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has questioned the BCCI selectors for excluding Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Rinku Singh from the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Rinku has been included in the traveling reserves for the tournament, but fans and experts believe that the batsman should have been a part of the main squad. During a recent conversation, Kaneria suggested that Rinku should have been a part of the team. Instead, Kaneria felt that Mumbai Indians (MI)’s Hardik Pandya should have been out, simply because of his poor returns in the ongoing IPL.

“India has a reputation for producing quality cricketers. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Angkrish Raghuvanshi are prime examples of this in recent times. Mayank Yadav has also surprised everyone with his pace and Abhishek Sharma has also surprised everyone with his power hitting abilities. Surprised. As far as Rinku is concerned, I also think he should have been a part of India’s T20 World Cup squad, if I keep in mind the current IPL performance, Hardik Pandya was left out. Should have been, he has not shown consistency Kaneria told Sports Now, you already have Shivam Dubey who is performing well for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), but overall the team is looking good. Rinku would have been a powerful addition to the lower order.

Meanwhile, Rinku had a disappointing performance in her first game after being eliminated from the T20 World Cup.

During the match between KKR and Mumbai Indians on Friday, Rinku scored just nine runs in eight balls before being dismissed by Piyush Chawla.

Despite Rinku’s flop show, KKR defeated MI by 24 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.

Chasing the target of 170 runs, Mumbai lost wickets at regular intervals and were all out for 145 runs in 18.5 overs.

This was KKR’s first win at the Wankhede ground in 12 years and seventh in 10 matches this season.

MI slipped to ninth place in the 10-team competition after their eighth defeat in 11 matches.

KKR are in second place and are well placed to make the play-offs.
