Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant, who returned to cricket after being injured in a horrific car accident, was fined Rs 24 lakh on Wednesday for his second over-limit violation in the Indian Premier League 2024. Pant was guilty of being slow in Wednesday’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders. His other teammates were fined 25% of their match fees. IPL said in a statement: “Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has been fined for his team’s slow over-speed during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders…” .

“As this is the second time this season that his team has violated the provisions of the IPL Code of Conduct regarding minimum over-rate violations, Pant has been fined INR 24 lakh.

“Other members of the squad, including impact players, have been individually fined INR 6 lakh or 25% of their respective match fees, whichever is lower,” the statement added.

Delhi Capitals lost by 106 runs to KKR, who posted a score of 272 for 7, the second-highest score in IPL history. This was Delhi Capitals’ third defeat in four games.

As per IPL rules, if a team is slow to attack for the third time in a season, the captain will be fined INR 30 lakh and banned. The rest of the team will be fined INR 12 lakh or 50% of the match fee, whichever is lower. So Pant needs to ensure that his team does not repeat this attack.

Former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke spoke about Risha Pant’s performance against KKR on Star Sports. He said: “Yeah, it looks like it’s great for Indian cricket, but it’s also great for Rishabh Pant. I think the hard work he’s done in his rehab, to get back to playing at that level by any standards, Both are a fantastic achievement. He deserves a lot of credit for his hard work and it’s great to see him out on the field, captaining the ball, batting well and fielding the ball well.

“He looked a bit sore, a bit ginger and I saw the Derry team doctor running onto the pitch a few times to check on him, so hopefully he comes out okay and the positive was he said in his speech that he was fine and wanted to have a day or a few days off. , he’ll be ready for the next game. He’s a great player and everyone is happy to have him back on the pitch and we’d like to see him play for Derry but we also want to get him back as soon as possible for Derry.
