AIMIM on Saturday announced its support to Edappadi K Palaniswami-led AIADMK in Tamil Nadu for the April 19 Lok Sabha elections.

“The alliance will also continue to contest the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu,” AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said on “X”, apparently referring to the 2026 state polls.

“The AIADMK has refused to ally with the BJP and has promised not to ally with it in future. It has also assured to oppose CAA, NPR and NRC. Therefore, AIMIM extends support to AIADMK in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Our alliance will also continue contest the assembly elections,” Owaisi said.

Incidentally, AIMIM is in alliance with Tamil Nadu TTV Dhinakaran’s Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazagam (AMMK) in the 2021 assembly elections and is contesting on three seats. AIADMK was part of the then BJP-led NDA.

AMMK is now part of the BJP-led bloc in the state and will contest the upcoming elections.

Tamil Nadu has 39 Lok Sabha seats.
