Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s interview real-time updates: In an exclusive interview with Network18 Managing Director Rahul Joshi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to unveil the Budget 2024-25 on Friday. Sitharaman presented her sixth consecutive budget on Thursday. In a budget speech of less than an hour, she laid out the Modi government’s achievements over the past decade in transforming India from a “fragile” economy to the world’s fastest-growing major economy.
Sitharaman proposed keeping personal and corporate income tax rates as well as customs duties unchanged while voting on the mid-term budget for 2024-25.
The Union Minister proposed new FDI expansion plans – starting with Grow India and GDP – Governance, Development and Performance – and increase capital expenditure to Rs 1,111 crore in 2024-25 while reducing the fiscal deficit for the current fiscal year It is budgeted from 5.9% of GDP and will further fall to 5.1% in the next fiscal year.
She said every challenge of the pre-2014 era was overcome through economic management and governance and said the government will come up with a detailed roadmap to make India a developed country in the July budget after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
