William Shatner recently faced criticism for using an AI-generated art cover on his new music album.

The 93-year-old actor was under scrutiny after unveiling the cover of his latest music album Where will the animals sleep?

The actor, best known for playing Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek TV series, confirmed that the poster was AI-generated, leaving no room for questions.

This came after Shatner released the cover image on Sunday, April 21, which featured a digital depiction of the actor surrounded by children of different races with animals including elephants and birds.

Fans didn’t hesitate to start a conversation on X, formerly known as Twitter, sparking outrage over the actor’s latest post.

Referencing the 2023 SAG-AFTRA, one fan wrote: “Didn’t the actors and writers just strike against AI?”

Adding, “Artists are also humans who love their art and don’t want AI to take them over.”

Meanwhile, another user shouted: “All AI is trained on work that tech people did not pay for and continue not to pay for, infringing copyrights and trademarks.”
