While Sehwag’s heroics for the Indian team, especially his triple century in Test cricket, are etched in the history books, what many do not know is that he once received a huge offer from the Big Bash League in Australia. In a conversation with Australian cricket great Adam Gilchrist, Sehwag revealed that he was once offered $100,000 by a BBL franchise, but he turned down the offer.
The conversation started when Gilchrist asked Sehwag if Indian players would ever play in the Big Bash League. Sehwag jokingly said that there was no need for this as Indian cricketers have a lot of money.

Sehwag then shared his story of when he turned down a big BBL contract.
“No, there is no need, we are rich people, we don’t go to poor countries for other leagues. I still remember when I was dropped from the Indian team, I was playing IPL, then I got dropped from the BBL Got a proposal from that I should do it.” Take part in the Big Bash, I said ok how much money, he said $100,000, I said I can spend that money on my holidays, even the bill last night was over $100,000,” he revealed.

Currently, Sehwag is working as a pundit for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Apart from his analysis for the players and franchises participating in the league, the former India opener has also given his expert opinion on the Indian team selection. T20 World Cup 2024.
Sehwag had recently backed Yashasvi Jaiswal to make India’s squad for the showpiece event despite the young opener’s poor form leading up to the game against Mumbai Indians.
