Speculation about the upcoming iPad has been mounting for months. why not? It’s the only Apple product to date that hasn’t been updated in nearly two years, which has never happened before. But if the reports are true, Apple may be late to the party, but it is planning to launch a lot of upgrades, especially the upcoming iPad Air, which the latest rumors suggest will be equipped with a Mini-LED display.

The upcoming iPad Air is expected to be equipped with a 12.9-inch Mini LED display

Ross Young of research firm Display Supply Chain Consultants (via MacRumors) said Apple may plan to switch its upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Air from a traditional LCD display to a Mini-LED display. In theory, it could improve display quality, with better color reproduction, deeper blacks and higher brightness for displaying HDR content.

According to Young, the move also has another benefit – longer battery life. Mini-LED displays consume less power than traditional LCD panels, which could mean longer battery life for the iPad Air. However, this switch is only expected to happen on the 12.9-inch iPad Air, while the 10.9-inch version may still come with an LCD display, as Apple reportedly lacks inventory of the smaller Mini-LED display.

Other updates

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPad Air is expected to receive an M2 upgrade this year. Furthermore, it is rumored to come in two sizes – 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch. While large, it’s still smaller than the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pros.
