Advisers in England have voted to accept a government pay deal, ending a dispute that led to industrial action.

The British Medical Association (BMA), the union representing senior doctors in a year-long pay dispute, put the proposal to its members, with 83 per cent voting in favour.

Pay agreement includes changes to Doctors Pay Review Body and senior doctor pay of 2.85%
It comes after senior doctors narrowly voted to reject a previous job offer in January.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak said: “The end of strike action by NHS consultants is great news for patients. It means we can continue to make progress on our target of cutting waiting lists, which have now been reduced for the third consecutive year. Four months down.” .

“Consultants play a vital role at the heart of the NHS – I’m delighted they have accepted this deal, which is fair to them and fair to taxpayers.”
