Two women have been reported to the Scottish Prosecution Service for sharing a video online of a young child vaping.

in a video logIt is believed to have been filmed in East Ayrshire and shows a young blonde girl inhaling a pink e-cigarette while adults watched.

Another video shows the young man coughing after using an e-cigarette.

The incident was reported to East Ayrshire Council Social Work Department.

The local authority said: “Due to their rights of confidentiality we do not wish to comment on individual cases, but all concerns raised have been followed up.”

Ayr state MP Siobhian Brown said she was “shocked” by the video.

Ms Brown, who is also Scotland’s community safety minister, said: “I don’t think anyone watching this video will find it ‘interesting’ or ‘interesting’ but most people will be shocked by it.

“E-cigarettes are not harmless and contain nicotine and dangerous toxins that can damage young, developing lungs.

“I hope this is an isolated incident and most responsible parents will be aware of the dangers.

“I have been concerned for many years about the rise in teenage vaping, particularly the attractive different flavors and accessibility of disposable e-cigarettes. The Scottish Government will introduce legislation next year to ban disposable e-cigarettes, which is welcome.”
