Labor ‘will sell arms to Israel if humanitarian law is followed’

A shadow minister has said Labor “will sell weapons to Israel” if it “obeys humanitarian law”.

Speaking to Sky News’ Kay Burley on Tuesday 2 April, Pat McFadden said the opposition “will not boycott arms sales to Israel”.

However, McFadden said selling weapons is “something we would do” if they were responsible and if Israel was believed to “comply with international humanitarian law.”

On whether he believed Israel was complying with international law, Mr McFadden said: “If there is appropriate legal evidence that Israel is not complying with international law, the government should come forward and say so.
