Virat Kohli was fuming over his controversial dismissal during the IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. Kohli was caught by Harshit Rana while bowling himself, but the batsman was convinced that the ball was above his waist. However, replays showed that the ball was sinking and since Kohli was standing outside the crease, the ball would have ended up below his waist had he stood in a normal batting position. Kohli was not happy with the third umpire’s decision and RCB captain Faf Du Plessis also opened up about the controversial dismissal.

“It’s crazy, rules are rules, both Virat and myself thought the ball was above waist level (when Kohli was dismissed) and I guess they measured it from the crease as it popped up and one team thought It was high and the other team wasn’t and that’s why the game went at times,” Fife said in his post-match speech.

“Then, (Jakes and Partida’s partnership) worked really well together, but when you don’t win too many games, there’s a certain panic and Narine’s game is a game-changer. You don’t feel like you There’s time to settle down and bat (about the evolution of this IPL season), the game doesn’t allow that and obviously you have an extra batsman, but in a chase like this, you have to keep going.”

“The game against Narine, I thought that was the game-changer. The little things, I was actually proud of the kids tonight, the way we pitched and defended, we did give up a couple big goals down the stretch, But I thought we held them to a par score and we thought we’d work on the batting powerplay and find those boundaries at the start of the innings.”

Royal Challengers Bangalore remain at the bottom of the IPL 2024 standings after losing by one point to Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR scored 222 runs on the back of a stellar performance from Shreyas Iyer and Phil Salt before Andre Russell took three wickets to seal the win for the home team.
