A day after calling off the protest in Navi Mumbai, Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange on Sunday said the agitation will continue until members of the community start getting benefits under the Maharashtra government’s proposed notification.

Jarange is facing criticism from some sections claiming that the government had only given him a draft proposal and not a formal notification. Jarange ended his indefinite fast for Maratha reservation after the government accepted his demands, with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announcing that until Marathas got reservation, they would be given all the benefits given to OBCs.

A draft notification was issued by the government recognizing all blood relatives of Maratha community members as Kunbi, in whose Kunbi caste records are found, making them eligible to claim Kunbi (OBC) certificate. Have become. “Our agitation will continue until at least one person from my community gets benefits under the new rules being implemented by the state. The state government has shown me the draft, and the final notification is yet to come. “We are closely monitoring the developments,” Jarange told reporters in Jalna district when asked about his next move.

Jarange said he would visit the historic Raigad Fort on Monday and pay homage to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on Tuesday. “I will go home (to Jalna district) only after paying homage,” he said.
