No. 6 in world ranking but not in Indian team: T20 World Cup winner raises questions on absence of star bowler. cricket news

The Indian cricket team’s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup has come out with some very surprising announcements. While top names like captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant got places as expected, there were some omissions which raised questions. In-form KL Rahul and Riyan Parag were not included, while Rinku Singh was sent to the reserves. In-form opener Ruturaj Gaikwad was also overlooked, while Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler T Natarajan was completely ignored even though his performance is better than the selected fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh.

The second name that was missing was Ravi Bishnoi. At present he is at sixth position in the world. The leg spinner has taken five wickets in nine matches in the IPL so far. Irfan Pathan, a member of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup-winning team, questioned his absence.

“It’s hard to digest if I’m sixth in the ICC T20 rankings but not in the World Cup lineup. #RaviBishnoi,” he wrote on Twitter.

India will begin their 2024 T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 5, followed by a crucial match against Pakistan at the same venue on June 9. After this, India will play USA and Canada on June 12 and 15 respectively.
