Sam Altman’s OpenAI may bring major upgrades with GPT-5; learn how it will improve ChatGPT

OpenAI’s generative artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT has gained tremendous popularity since its launch in November 2022. The company developed a large language model (LLM) called GPT to power ChatGPT. Currently, the tool is powered by GPT-4, enabling it to generate responses based on user prompts. Now, OpenAI is expected to launch GPT-5 in the coming months, which is expected to be the largest ChatGPT upgrade to date. GPT-5 coming soon

According to Business Insider, OpenAI plans to launch a new generation of GPT this summer, so it is only a few months away from release. However, the company is still planning an official launch date. OpenAI is rumored to have shown GPT-5 demos to some companies to gather feedback. The upcoming GPT-5 version is expected to be improved and “substantially better” than the GPT-4 version currently offered by ChatGPT.

The GPT-5 model is currently in the training phase and has not yet been released for testing purposes. Therefore, it may take some time before the company officially launches LLM. The report also highlights that the LLM will undergo internal testing that will include “red teaming”, a phase of security training that will judge the tool’s capabilities in different scenarios before it is made public.

GPT-5 is expected to include several improvements that users face in the current version, and as a result, the model is likely to be more reliable and trustworthy. It is speculated that Ultraman will make several announcements in the coming months. In a recent interview with Lex Fridman’s podcast, Altman may have hinted at the launch of an unnamed model, speculated to be the GPT-5. However, it’s uncertain when the model will be fully ready for testing, or how long it will take to reach the testing stage.
