“Was angry”: Virat Kohli’s confession in candid dressing room chat with Will Jacks cricket news

By | Published | No Comments

Will Jacks’ sensational century made a mockery of the 201-run target set by Gujarat Titans as Royal Challengers Bangalore registered a comfortable 9-wicket win in Ahmedabad in the 45th match of IPL 2024 on Sunday. Chasing the target, RCB reached home with four overs remaining. Jaques brought up his half-century in 31 balls and took only 10 balls to score his maiden IPL century in his fifth match. When RCB needed one run to win, Jacques reached the three-figure mark with a six and remained unbeaten on 100 off 41 balls.

Jacques helped RCB win the game comfortably by sharing a 166-run partnership for the second wicket with Virat Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 70 off 44 balls.

The conversation between RCB batsmen after the team’s thrilling win over Gujarat Titans has gone viral on social media. In the clip shared by RCB through its official social media handle, Kohli can be heard saying to Jacques, “I was angry, I didn’t hit a six on the first ball, but when I saw you on 94 and one. Had to take a run, so I was like ‘Thank God I didn’t break it’.”

After the match-winning half-century, Kohli hit back at his critics. It is noteworthy that Kohli’s strike rate has been much discussed in the shortest format of cricket. His batting against spin has been another talking point.

“Not really, all those people who talk about strike-rate and me not being able to play spin well, that’s what they’re talking about. For me, it’s about winning games for the team. And there’s a reason you did this for 15.” Over the years, you have done this day in and day out, you have won games for your teams, I am not quite sure if you were not in that situation yourself, sitting and talking about games in the box,” Kohli he said.

He said, “For me, people can talk about their assumptions day in and day out, but people who do it day in and day out know what’s going on and that’s kind of a muscle for me now.” It’s a memory.”
