Sacked leader Sanjay Nirupam claims Congress has '5 power centers'

Sanjay Nirupam has been expelled from the Congress party.

Mumbai:

A day after being expelled from the party, former Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam, who claimed to have submitted his resignation letter to the party president, lashed out at his former party, saying the party had five powers center.

“The Congress is a completely fragmented party. Party leaders had earlier said that its ideology has no direction, but now their organization is fragmented,” Mr. Nirupam said.

Explaining the organizational structure of the Congress party, Mr. Nirupam said: “Earlier, there was only one center of power within the Congress party, with a small circle that all other leaders used against them. Now, you will be surprised It was discovered that there were five power centers within the Congress party.”

Revealing each center of power, Mr Nirupam said the five had their own distinct core groups and lobby groups and were at war with each other.

“Five different centers of power with their own caucuses and conflicting lobbies. In the midst of this, hundreds of thousands of workers like me find ourselves trapped. Of these five centers, the first is Sonia Gandhi, the second is Rahul Gandhi, the third is Rahul Gandhi. “The fourth is his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and the fourth is President Mallikarjun Hag. He was surrounded by men with no political ideology who had suddenly become supreme commanders by tying themselves to Haggar. The last center of power is KC Venugopal, general secretary of the Congress party. “

“Those with merit are now in bad shape and getting worse. I observed this phenomenon for several years, but then I lost patience,” he added.

The former Bundestag member also took a dig at his former party, saying they ended up wasting an A-4-sized piece of paper.

“I sent my resignation letter to Mallikarjun Kharge around 10:40 pm last night. I think after that they got irritated by my expression in my resignation letter. They probably thought it would be too much to not react” Then That’s what they decided (to expel him from the party). So, they (Congress) end up wasting an A-4 size paper,” Mr Nirupam told a press conference on Thursday.

Explaining the reasons that led to his resignation, the former Congress leader said: “I asked them not to waste stationery when I came to know that they were in a mood to take action and I will make the announcement today.”

Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said in a statement on Wednesday evening that the senior leader was expelled from the Congress for “discipline” and “anti-party remarks”.

“Considering complaints of indiscipline and anti-party remarks, the Congress president has approved the expulsion of Sanjay Nirupam from the party for a period of six years with immediate effect,” Mr. Venugopal said.

Earlier in the day, Mr Nirupam was dropped from the Congress party’s list of star campaigners for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The move follows his recent remarks against Indian block partner Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) during the seat-sharing talks for the Lok Sabha elections.
