Rohit Sharma wants India-Pakistan bilateral ties to reset

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma believes the resumption of the bilateral series between India and Pakistan will be a huge boost to Test cricket. India and Pakistan have not faced each other in a bilateral series for about a decade due to political tensions, so their international match is one of the much-awaited matches for all cricket fans. In an episode of the ‘Club Prairie Fire’ podcast, former England captain Michael Vaughan asked Rohit: “Don’t you think it would be great for Test cricket that India play Pakistan regularly?”

Rohit gave a clear reply – “I have every confidence that if we play overseas, they are a good team with a good bowling line-up, a good game. The last Test was in 2007- Conducted in 2008.”

“Yes, I would love to play (against Pakistan), it will be a great game between both sides. We play them in the International Cricket Federation Trophy and I am looking at pure cricket, great game , so why not?” he added.

Meanwhile, Rohit has completely rubbished rumors of a meeting with head coach Rahul Dravid and chief selector Ajit Agarkar regarding India’s 2024 T20 World Cup squad. Media reports said that the meeting was held in Mumbai and the main topics discussed related to Hardik Pandya’s bowling issues and whether the team management should consider Virat Kohli as the opening batsman.

“I haven’t met anyone. Ajit Agarkar is playing golf somewhere in Dubai and Rahul Dravid is actually in Bengaluru watching his kids They play ball. [Dravid] in mumbai but he got his [the son] Played on the clay wicket of CCI. That’s it,” Rohit revealed.

Although the BCCI is yet to make an official announcement, the selectors are expected to announce the squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the first week of May.
