Rachel Johnson said in a resurfaced interview that “Brexit is a *** idea” and suggested her brother Boris Johnson thought the same.

Speaking on a Norwegian talk show hosted by Fredrik Skavlan, Ms Johnson revealed that Brexit had “divided families”.

“Brexit has divided the family. Mainly for those members who think Brexit is a bad idea and those who think it is a very bad idea,” she said.

Ms Johnson later apologized for her language before being told it was okay to swear because she was “in a free country now”.

“That’s what I’m saying…nothing, nothing, Brexit is definitely not a bad idea,” the journalist added.

During the Brexit campaign, the Johnson family publicly stated their differences with the EU.

The former prime minister’s brother, Jo Johnson, resigned as a minister in protest at the direction his brother’s government had taken, while his sister Rachel, a prominent Remain supporter, publicly criticized his behavior in the House of Commons.

When Joe Johnson resigned, he said there was an “irresolvable tension” between “family loyalties and national interests.”

Their father, Stanley Johnson, was a Conservative MEP from 1979-84 and supported the Remain campaign. However, in October 2017, he came out in support of Britain’s exit from the EU and said “now is the time for a bailout”.

Boris Johnson also revealed that his mother, Charlotte Johnson-Ware, voted to leave the EU in the 2016 referendum.

Speaking at the 2019 Conservative Party conference, the then Prime Minister said: “I would like to quote the highest authority in my family, my mother.

“I know there are students who are passionate about my family’s alleged disagreements on EU affairs.

“Well, meeting, I want you to know that I have my trump card up my sleeve – my mother voted for Brexit.”

Ms Johnson previously revealed that the Johnson family avoid talking about Brexit at the dinner table.

She tweeted: “The family avoids talking about Brexit, especially at mealtimes, as we don’t want to conflict with the Prime Minister.” [Boris Johnson]”.
