Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a blistering attack on Bengaluru over the infrastructure crisis caused by mismanagement by the Congress party.

Speaking at a rally in Bengaluru about the severe water crisis in parts of Bengaluru, which has led to rationing and even penalties for non-essential water use, Prime Minister Modi said: “The Congress government in Karnataka has Turn this tech city into a tanker city and leave it to the tanker mafia.”

“The Congress party is anti-private sector, anti-taxpayer, anti-wealth creator… India (opposition group)’s focus is Modi, but my focus is India’s development and its global image,” he said.

BJP MPs Tejasvi Surya and PC Mohan are candidates from Bengaluru South and Central respectively. Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje is the candidate from Bengaluru North.

In Bengaluru Rural, CN Manjunath, a cardiologist and son-in-law of former Prime Minister Deve Gowda, is contesting from the BJP under an arrangement with alliance partner Janata Dal (Secular) or JD(S).

Prime Minister Modi held huge rallies in Kalaburagi and Shivamogga last month. On April 14, he addressed a rally in Mysore, during which he shared the podium with Mr Gowda, and later held a roadshow in the coastal town of Mangaluru.

Polling in Karnataka is scheduled to be held in two phases; the first on April 26 and the second on May 7.
