In Rajasthan, man killed bed-ridden father, sat near dead body for hours: Police

City(Rajasthan):

A 30-year-old man here allegedly killed his bed-ridden father following an argument and sat near the body for hours until his mother came home, police said on Monday.

He said that the victim’s son Mahavir Meghwal, who is allegedly a drug addict and mentally disturbed, has been arrested.

The incident took place in Railway Colony police station area on Sunday morning. However, the matter came to light in the evening when the deceased’s wife returned home and found her son sitting near her husband’s body, he said.

He said that on receiving information about the incident, the police recovered the body and handed it over to the youth’s family after post-mortem on Monday morning.

According to the police, the man identified as Dayaram Meghwal (60), was ill for a long time and was bedridden.

The accused allegedly attacked his father with an ax handle during an argument in the morning, resulting in his death on the spot. He sat near the body until his mother, a daily wage labourer, arrived in the evening, said Railway Colony circle officer Pankaj Yadav.

Yadav said, the accused, allegedly a drug addict and mentally unstable, kept changing his statements during interrogation.

He said that the police have arrested Mahavir under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and further investigation is underway.
