‘Muslims in Assam don’t need appeasement’: Himanta Sarma slams Gaurav Gogoi

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launches strong attack on Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi

Guwahati:

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has launched a strong attack on Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi for his stance on religion-related issues.

Mr. Sarma accused Mr. Gogoi of appeasement by performing namaz ceremony in Sivasagar constituency but not attending the inauguration of Ram temple.

“The people of Assam don’t need appeasement. They need jobs and development,” Mr. Sarma said.

Mr. Gogoi is the Congress candidate from Jorhat Lok Sabha seat.

“Gaurav Gogoi seems to know the correct posture to perform namaz. I don’t know where he learned it from. But here is the question, he and Akhil Gogoi show so much devotion for Eid, why they don’t show Ram mandir pran Is it the same during prathistha?” Mr. Sarma said.

The chief minister said: “When pran prathistha happened, he (Gaurav Gogoi) was fighting against the government and walking side by side with Rahul Gandhi on the roads of Assam during the Congress pilgrimage, violating the law .”

“He committed a great sin. He did not go to the Rama temple even once. He did not go to the Kamaga temple. We have many other festivals but we don’t see his devotion there. People like him One does not love anyone. Without Hindus, there can be no Muslims. Muslims in Assam do not need this appeasement policy,” Mr. Sarma said.
