The center on Friday advised citizens not to travel to Iran and Israel until further notice due to “the prevailing situation in the region.”
The advice from Iran’s foreign ministry comes as Iran threatens to retaliate over an alleged Israeli airstrike on its embassy in Syria this month.
Countries including the United States and Russia have issued similar travel warnings for their staff and citizens in the region.
The foreign ministry said citizens of both countries should “take maximum safety precautions and limit their activities to a minimum.”
There are fears that Iranian retaliation could widen the six-month conflict between Iran-backed Hamas militants and Israel in the Gaza Strip.
The United States has contacted the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Iraq, asking them to urge Iran to ease tensions with Israel as part of efforts to contain the conflict.
