The famous Shri Siddhivinayak Ganesh Temple in Mumbai is all set to get a major upgrade. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started the process of beautification and upgradation of the area around the popular temple.

A drone survey will be conducted around the temple to identify required improvements. Its objective is to provide world class facilities to the devotees coming for worship. This will include installing grand gates at the entrance of the temple, better parking, separate entry and exit points for devotees, crowd management system, facilities like drinking water and toilets, seating arrangements and sheds for devotees standing in long queues.

The areas around the temple also witnessed changes like better roads and footpaths, better means of transport, removal of encroachments on footpaths and roads mainly from the temple entrance, provision of parking for devotees’ vehicles and a meeting place. Will meet.

Shri Siddhivinayak Ganesh Temple is one of the most famous and prominent places in Mumbai. Devotees from all over the world come to the temple to worship Lord Ganesha. Many Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan have walked for miles to reach the temple.

BMC will prepare a complete report of the area around Shri Siddhivinayak Ganesh Temple like Dadar Railway Station, Prabhadevi Railway Station, nearby metro stations and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park. From the above report, details of roads, footpaths, existing structures and traffic flow along with details of utilities present there and encroachments will be measured.

The exercise will also include study of the mode of transport by which devotees are coming to the temple and the travel time required. The roads leading to the temple will be studied and the traffic movement on the roads adjacent to the temple will also be studied.

The open land of Municipal Corporation available nearby will also be assessed which can be used for this project. Drone mapping of the temple surroundings will also be done to get accurate aerial data.

A consultant appointed by the BMC will suggest various works to be done to improve and beautify the area around the temple. Its objective is to provide better facilities and amenities to the devotees visiting the temple.

what could be the result

A traffic survey will check the adequacy of nearby roads and footpaths to handle the traffic, as well as suggest plans to relocate the encroachment as per requirements, if any. Long term measures will also be taken to facilitate the large number of devotees visiting the temple. Queue management will be another key feature.

The consultant will also suggest the mode of transportation from the nearest railway station and metro station to the temple. Special measures will be suggested for crowd visiting the temple on important occasions like New Year, Anagarika Chaturthi, weekends and public holidays. Its purpose is also to avoid traffic jams on the roads around the temple.

Shri Siddhivinayak Ganesh Temple is a sensitive place from security point of view, hence security measures will also be suggested by the consultant. BMC has invited expression of interest (EOI) on January 26 to appoint a consultant to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) for the project.
