A 28-year-old motorcyclist died after being crushed by a Tesla car in autopilot mode. USA Today informed of.

Jeffrey Nissen, of Washington, was pronounced dead at the scene after a Tesla Model-S hit his bike on State Route 522 in Maltby, about 25 miles from Seattle, on Friday.

According to reports, the Tesla driver had put the car on autopilot driving system and was using his phone.

The car stopped over the motorcyclist and could not be moved in time to save him.

According to seattle timesThe driver has been arrested for “carelessness while driving in autopilot mode and being distracted by a cell phone while driving. The driver trusted the machine to drive for him.”

Washington State Patrol Captain Deon Glover said: “It’s still in the early stages of the investigation with a lot of unknowns still out there.” An investigation is underway to find out whether the car was in autopilot mode or the death occurred solely due to driver error.

This is not the first case of problems with the Tesla Autopilot system.

In December last year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that more than two million Tesla cars encountered problems in Autopilot mode.
